iSmile Same-Day Crowns and Onlays with CEREC ®
At iSmile Dentistry, we are proud to offer same-day crowns and onlays through our innovative CEREC® technology. With CEREC®, we can create custom-fit, natural-colored porcelain restorations right in our office, eliminating the need for multiple visits and temporary crowns. Our cutting-edge cosmetic dentistry techniques ensure convenience and comfort when it comes to enhancing your smile.
Understanding CEREC®
CEREC® stands for Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics. This advanced technology combines CAD/CAM (Computer-Aided Design/Computer-Aided Manufacturing) in one instrument, which includes a camera, computer, and milling machine. Our skilled dental team utilizes CEREC® to restore damaged teeth with custom natural-colored ceramic fillings in just a single visit, providing a seamless experience for our patients.
The CEREC® Process
The CEREC® process involves four simple steps, allowing us to design and mill custom restorations during one visit to our dental office.
Exam, Selection, and Preparation
Before proceeding with the CEREC® procedure, our experienced dentist will evaluate your dental needs to determine if it is the best solution for you. This decision depends on the amount of healthy tooth structure available. Once selected, our iSmile dentist will administer an anesthetic and prepare your tooth by removing any decay and weakened tissue in order to prepare it for restoration.
Impressions
Instead of traditional messy impressions, we use a state-of-the-art digital camera to capture a 3-dimensional image of the tooth that needs restoration. This image serves as a reference for creating the restoration. The captured digital image is then converted into a virtual model of the prepared tooth using our CEREC® 3D software.
Milling
Using the virtual model, our dentist selects a color-matched ceramic block that matches the original color of your tooth. Within minutes, the milling device creates the custom restoration based on the specifications of your tooth.
Placement of the Restoration
Once the restoration is milled, it is tried on to ensure a proper fit and bite. After verifying its accuracy, the restoration is polished and bonded into place by your dentist. This eliminates the need for temporary restorations and additional visits, saving you both time and money.
