Been going here for about two years. The hygienists were always nice, treated me well and did a good job. After yesterday I will not be coming back however. I've had a few cavities filled which seems odd now that I think about. Way more than I feel like I should have had (I've always taken good care of my teeth and my old family dentist would compliment me) and after reading some of the reviews I suspect that I may not have actually had some of them. My teeth were never sensitive when they told me I had cavities...
Regardless, I had a 10 year old amalgam filling replaced. It was the tiniest filling I've ever had. I remember specifically when the dentist did the fillings initially, they said they were very tiny and they would be virtually unnoticeable. Indeed, after looking at them with a dental mirror, they were about the width of a pin. Yesterday when Dr. Barton drilled them out, he took an unusually long amount of time. He was also pressing really hard to drill them out which was very uncomfortable and a little painful, even through the numbing. At one point he slipped with the drill, twice and I felt it hit my gums. I shrugged it off since I was numb and he didn't seem to notice he slipped and just continued drilling. When he was done drilling (took about 6 minutes) and was getting the bonding agents and such ready, I pushed my tongue back there to feel around. He had drilled out the entire back end of my tooth and a lot of the middle as well. This seems very excessive for such a small filling that was being replaced.
When all was said and done, I looked at the filling with a dental mirror when I got home. The filling looks fine which was a relief, but he cut two HUGE gashes into my gums from when he slipped. About 1/3 inch in length. Now that the numbing has worn off, it hurts a lot and that tooth itself is very sensitive. Again, the fillings were super tiny but he drilled out nearly a 3rd of my tooth. Hopefully the sensitivity will go away with time...
I'm done with this place for everything except cleanings. Giving two stars for being low priced and accommodating, friendly staff but think twice about having any real work done here.
I included a picture, that was very hard to take hah. They are noticeably better looking then when they were fresh but you can see the cuts from the drill clearly. Read Less
